Nike Blazer Premium SB Michael Lau 2008 BMX

BMX, or Bike Motocross, became an Olympic program officially in 2008. Because of this, Nike collaborated with Michael Lau, a famous Hong Kong artist, and published a SB Blazer and a series of peripheral products based on Chinese BMX team in order to develop BMX culture. Michael Lau used red and yellow, most representative colors of China, to color this SB Blazer. The vamp uses leather and suede-made swoosh, and the tongue has a “CHINA” embroidery. The solar-flame pattern embroidery on the heel of the shoe delivers powerful visual impact, and printed phrases such as “2008”, “BEIJING”, and “BMX” reinforce the topic of this collaboration even more. A lot of other BMX details can be found on this shoe--the midsole pattern originated from BMX tracks, and the lining pattern is actually the frame of the bike.

Those peripheral products are unique as well. The “Mud Box” is specially designed. The box is inspired by the BMX tracks--muddy ground that is full of trails left by bikes. Those trails appeared on this box as well. On the front of the box, “BEIJING 2008 BMX” is printed. Michael Lau designed two dolls for this collaboration: a BMX player doll, and a bicycle doll. All of them have a palette of red and yellow.

A sample edition of this collaboration was revealed later, and the Sample edition is mainly colored by white. Other parts of this Sample edition remained the same as the original edition.

BMX的全称是自行车越野，也称小轮车运动，在2008年的北京奥运会上，小轮车竞速赛首次成为奥运会正式比赛项目。Nike便以此为契机携手著名的香港玩具公仔艺术家刘建文Michael Lau再次展开合作，以中国的bmx小轮车队为主题设计一款SB Blazer以及一系列周边，以推广bmx文化。Michael Lau采用了我们中国队再熟悉不过的红黄配色来打造这一款SB Blazer，鞋面采用了皮革搭配麂皮swoosh为主体。鞋舌上还印有“CHINA”字样的刺绣，而鞋的后半部分类似于太阳火焰的花纹刺绣给人以充满力量的感觉，同时后跟鞋帮处印有“20”，“08”，“BEIJING”，“BMX” 字样辅以星星的图案也彰显了此次联名的主题。Michael Lau的设计向来的是细节满满，例如鞋身侧面的透气孔变成星星形状、鞋屁股车轮图案的封边、来源于小轮车车头防滑垫设计的海绵鞋带扣、中底图案来源于bmx赛道的黄色标识、内侧的中底图案则是来源于小轮车车头的车架。

另外一个非常具有特色的便是其周边，特殊打造的搪胶鞋盒“泥盒”，灵感来源于bmx比赛场地。小轮车的轮胎飞快的驶过泥泞的户外场地，留下一条车胎痕迹，细细一看，上边还带有车胎上的纹路。鞋盒正面印有“BEIJING 2008 BMX”字样，同时另一面上的“X”字样胎印是源于bmx小轮车被称作的“X”运动称号。同时作为玩具公仔艺术家的Michael Lau也为此设计了两款公仔，一个是小轮车公仔，一个是人形车手公仔，均采用红黄配色为主题打造。

之后也有曝光这双联名的sample设计，整鞋以纯白配色为主，其余设计基本不变。
